Root vegetable compote

Ingredients
  

  • 45 g broccoli or carrot
  • 45 g parsley root
  • 45 g parsnips
  • 1 teaspoon fat

Instructions
 

  • Peel the root vegetables and cut them into small pieces.
  • Put the root vegetables in a saucepan. Pour water over until just covered. Bring the pot to a boil and let the root vegetables cook under a lid for approx. 15 minutes. Prick them to check if they are tender.
  • Pour off the water and save it for later.
  • Mash the root vegetables with a fork or a mashed potato.
  • Add the fat.
  • Add a little of the stored vegetable water until the bog has a suitable thickness.
  • Check that it has the correct eating temperature before giving it to the child.

Notes

You can use breast milk substitute instead of vegetable water. Then the food gets a higher energy content, and the baby gets added iron through the breast milk substitute.
You can use other vegetables like cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. You can add a few drops of lemon juice to the bog, it will make it more fresh in taste. You can serve the root vegetables cut into small cubes and turned into fat when the child has become good at chewing. At the root humidifier, the cooking time is a little shorter.
